How does the licensing work with Avast!?

Avast! licensing is flexible. You order exactly the number of licenses for the number of machines you have. There is an info icon on every Avast! product that, when moused over, will show the price based on quantity.

What is the difference between Avast! SBS Server and the SBS Suite?
|
|
The SBS Server protects only the SBS server and requires the purchase of a number of licenses that is equal to the number of SBS CALS installed on the server. This is because the SBS server includes Exchange and this licensing protects the equivalent number of Exchange mailboxes. It does not include protection for the individual workstations.
The SBS Suite edition includes the license for the Exchange mailbox, the SBS as a file server, and also allows Avast! Professional to be installed on the workstations. Thus protecting your email, server, and workstations.
The SBS Server option should really only be chosen when you just want to protect the server. In this scenario businesses have chosen some other protection for their workstations.
SBS Server and Suite are made available in Premium and Standard edition, to coincide with your version of SBS. Premium edition includes protection for ISA.

How does licensing with Avast! Suites work?

Avast! Suites are a great way for businesses big or small to reduce the cost of Anti-Virus protection. Simply choose which suite meets your needs.
Example: Let's say you have 2 Windows servers, 1 is a file server/Domain Controller and the other is your Exchange Server. Let's also include 30 windows based workstations.

| Keep in mind you always want to include File Protection on your e-mail server as well as E-mail Protection. In this example we based the number of mailboxes on the number of workstations but your true number of mailboxes could vary depending on your business needs. |

How do the server plugins work?

| You can use any protection piece available for the Avast! Server edition. Simply install Avast! Server edition and your license key will determine which plugins you have unlocked for that server. We recommend using the AVAST ADNM tool to deploy Avast! to your servers. It will allow you the option to generate a managed install package tailored with the plugins for specific servers. |
